Filters: UV - maybe, but it doesn't affect anything. And for shooting directly towards the sun CP wouldn't do much.
There seems to be less and less garden in this state.

Yeah, those greenies are tricky...
Absolutely amazing work and such a well composed shot with the green flash in it. Considering the length of time that's visible, congrats are definitely in order.

Yes, you need a sun low. I've seen pictures of GF taken even in the urban environment above the roofs, but in general the lower sun is and the higher your vantage point is the better your chances are. You also need fairly particular atmospheric conditions. My understanding is that in general you need either sea/ocean or a desert floor, plus zero haze.
