Smarter smart galleries?

Perhaps I can't see how to do it: I want two smart galleries containing the same set of images from other galleries. In the public one, I want only the title to show. In the other one I want the filename as well as the title. That way, when someone picks a title from the public one and sends it to me or my print support folks, we can quickly determine which file to work with. In addition, on the public side I only want limited size, while on the private side I'd want to allow downloading of the original.

Currently, it looks like the only way I can do this is to upload to separate galleries from the same image set.

Thanks,

Brandon Smith

First of all, downloading of originals will be allowed by you when you are logged in in any gallery. You don't need a second gallery for that. Besides, smart galleries respect the settings on the original uploaded image - you can not have different size availability for the same image in different smart galleries. Yes, I know that's not as flexible as some would like, but that's the way it works now.

Second of all, you can configure the filename on any single gallery so it shows only when you are logged in. It takes the right settings in the gallery to show the filename and then some CSS to hide it when not logged in. I think you can do everything you asked for with one gallery.

Did you miss a "not" in "you can have different size availability"? I tried setting one to original and the other to 3X, but I don't see original in the panel that comes out.

Having a way to hide the filename from public is great, but I don't see how to show the title on one and the filename on the other. Aside from that, though, I wanted to set up the private gallery for someone else to use and they would simply use the password I put on it.

Are there plans to enhance the smart galleries?

Yes, I missed the "not". I'm not a Smugmug employee so I don't know what they do or don't have planned for smart galleries.

If you want to do this for non-logged in users, you will need two separate uploads in two separate galleries.
