Haha! When I first read the thread title I thought it said "Intervention" and thought, "Wow...cool! I can't wait to see what these guys come up with!" Invention will be pretty cool too though. lol3.gif

I know I don't play any more, but I still look at the themes and try to figure out what I would shoot if I had the time, and I do my best to always vote. I love spectating and admiring the immense creativity. And maybe one day I'll jump back in. :D

Awesome link Donna, my favorite of the bunch are the Illuminated Tires. I could not help but notice one of the common denominators in almost all of the photos... The human element. Just about every one of them shows both the invention and a person demonstrating or interacting with it. My point is that it seems we connect more readily with an image that has a human element. Watching the photos that everyone is posting, and seeing the difference in everyone's creativity, really makes me appreciate being a part of this group.

    WooHoo I got an idea!
wings.gifI got an idea for this entry! I hope I have time to shoot it and get the image to the forum for C&C. I'm also getting a new lens from Adorama tomorrow a NIKKOR 18-105mm DX VR Lens. I think I'll use it.

    CAn't upload to gallery
Sean, I'm having a quirky time uplodaing my entry. Here;'s what I'm doing:

digitalgrin.com in my browser. when it opens Dgrin, it shows me as logged in. When I logout, I get a screen asking for my emial and pw. When I enter challegnes/challenges, it goes to the upload page. But the upload page is blank except for the title. There's no way to upload.

I am not logged in the my smugmug site.

    What am I doing wrong?

BTW, half of the times that I put digitalgrin.com into my browser bar, it says that it can't be found.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Not sure but I have a feeling it may be Internet related on your end, For a test try using this link to upload

    http://www.smugmug.com/photos/new_add.mg?AlbumID=14052598&uploader=olde

You may want to clear your cache and try rebooting your computer before hand as well.

Indecently everything seems fine on my end. headscratch.gif

Seventh time's the charm. I had rebooted and cleared my machine. I tried a different uploader and it worked. I've had a lot of trouble accessing Dgrin both at home and at work.

I'm all set. Thanks for the quick reply.

I know it's been discussed before but I can't find it. What's the ruling on using Photoshop "special effects"? (i.e. Filter-->Render-->Flare)?

Unless it is specified you are able to use what ever effects you wish.

In the rules under the title PHOTO ENTRIES - A Must Read!, #3 states:

Post Processing: As a digital photography challenge, there are no limits on post-processing, unless stated otherwise for a "special" challenge round.

Thanks, Sherstone. I knew that we could use layers, masks, etc. Just wanted to make sure pre-rendered effects weren't a no-no. thumb.gif
