Impulse purchase idea

I've been toying with selling inexpensive fine art via my CinchPhoto.com domain. I'm trying to keep the barrier to purchase low, in hopes of hitting impulse-purchase territory. As part of that I've been placing photos in local businesses like coffee shops and restaurants.

Now, I realize this is very pie-in-the-sky. But, I'm thinking it would be really nice to make it easy to buy from a smartphone. In a really perfect case they could take a picture of the namecard with their phone, and end up at the right SmugMug page to buy that picture.

I know there are some apps out there that will read barcodes and pull up the item on Amazon. Is there anything like that for SmugMug? Or can anyone think of a way to put that together?

I may be wrong but I think what you are looking for is called QR Codes. You can embed all sorts of stuff in these including URLs which is what you want. I've never used them but there are websites that generate these for free e.g. http://www.qrstuff.com/ or http://zxing.appspot.com/generator/ and you might be able to use those to generate barcodes for the purchase pages of your images
