getting closer to the raptors...

I've been attempting to shoot raptors for several weeks now with little success.

Quick update on my progression: First I had to know where and when to find them. Once I had that down (9am-12noon SJWS or Bolsa. I'm sure they come again in the afternoon--I just havent been there during that time span yet) the trick was then to work on my stalking and my in flight photo technique... both are very much still a work in progress

Now that I had a rough idea where and when to locate the birds, they started showing up in my photos...as small flying specks 100 ft high.

Thus my current stage of learning raptor shooting: learning to get closer. I hope you enjoy a glimpse into my learning curve and thanks for any helpful suggestions you may have.

Sweeeeeeeeetttt birdies. thumb.gif I can't wait to find some "birds of prey" for myself. It's become apparent that I'll have to leave my backyard to find said birds.

Thanks for sharing them with us. Are you a machine gunner....also? ne_nau.gif

Excellent captures Jeff. Raptors are a real challenge to capture unless are fortunate enough to live by The Tree. :D

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
