thoughts concerning some of the OOF points. Like the Eagles beak.
These are zoo shots, right?

You have to consider that the effective focal length was 448mm. ISO 3200, f/4, 1/500, shot at pretty close range. You don't have a lot of reasonable options left here to get the "whole" subject in focus.
By my calculations; the eagle's beak is about 2" long.
I was about 10' from the eagle, and given the same ISO and shutter speed to be able to hand-hold steady at this focal length;
f/4 = .24" DOF
f/22 = 1.32" DOF
So, as you can see, given the above combination of camera lens/body/converter and distance to subject, I would not have been able to have the beak and the eyes both in focus.
Yep, zoo shots.
Thanks for looking and your input!
Beautiful birds Randy -- #2 -- the colors just pop so beautifully.

Thanks Mary, I always have a good time at the zoo.
Thanks Tom,
This parrot really enjoyed messin' with people. Visitors would try and try to get it to talk, you know "hello", or what ever. Not a peep. Then, as they finally gave up and turned to walk away, it would say; "hello, hello, anybody there"
Why should this matter? There's nothing visually here that suggests zoo. The only giveaway is that one would not expect to find this mixture of species in one spot outside a zoo, but each pic could work as a standalone.
