I like the concept with the cannon and statue in the background. I think I might have tried to shoot it without vehicle traffic and an angle that grabbed more of the cannon with the statue just behind it?????

So for the angle, if I was going to go for the same basic view...move to my left a bit? As for the no traffic thing, that's pretty unlikely at this location. It's one of those streets that ALWAYS has traffic...the only thing I could do is clone them out. I'm too lazy for that. The only post processing I did on this was resize and cropping. ;-)

...wonder what it would look like if I had lay down instead of just kneel...may have to go back.

Yes, a few steps to the left. That would give a bit more road on the left, the cannon, statue and probably cut out the road on the right. Kneeling down would be good. Laying down might not get you much as the statue is probably a bit too far off in the background to take advantage of that angle even if you moved closer to the canon.

I like it- your cannon is in much better shape than mine.

I would suggest one of the two shooting angles IF you want to try a retake. One would be to go with your widest angle lens and get as close as you can to find an interesting angle. The cannon will dominate the scene and all else will shrink in size and importance. The other would be to go with your longest lens and get as far as practical, shooting both the cannon and the statue. The statue will "grow" and you might have an interesting juxtaposition between the two.

BTW, cloning is not an accepted practice in street and PJ shots...

Went back for a retake. Also did a *little* more post processing.

Downside is that there was a sign and a fire hydrant in front of the cannon, so my options were pretty limited. Again, C&C would be fantabulous!

Of the three, #3 does it for me. Maybe clone out the hanging telephone line in the "U" shape?

Processing looks good to me and the time of day (shadows) worked well IMO.
