View From Hotel Window

Guilin, China:

This view was rather flat... The sky was a leaden gray and the colors were muted. I decided to spice it up using Topaz Adjust. The entire Guilin/Yangshuo has (IMO) an Alice in Wonderland look about it, mainly due to the limestone Karsk formations which rise straight up. I thought that the Topaz Adjust would enhance this unreal quality.

It rained all the time when I was there but, I cannot complain about the rain because a few weeks after I visited the area, it was hit by massive floods. I missed these...

    interesting effect. i'd love to photograph that area. don't feel too bad about the weather... virtually every photo i've ever seen of that region features gray skies, mist or fog, and muted colors. i think it's part of the surreal effect.
