Linking galleries to Facebook

When linking a gallery to Facebook - how do I remove the default text (that subsequently displays on Facebook) that reads:

"Billions of happy photos, millions of passionate customers. Gorgeous online photo albums. Protect your priceless memories. Buy beautiful prints & gifts."

And is there a way of hiding the ugly 'long link' that is also displayed?

THANKS

After pasting the link into FB, but before actually posting it, just click on that text in FB and edit it to whatever you want (a hidden FB feature).

You can do what John said. But also:
    1) we'll use your album description in the gallery so fill that out - if you put something there, we send it along to FB.
    2) if you have empty album descr we'll use y our site meta (yours is empty) https://secure.smugmug.com/homepage/settings.mg?settings=searc

Well I added an album description (just some lorum ipsom for now) but the default SmugMug text still appears when pasting the link in Facebook.

Here's the link I've been posting:

I think FB has some caching so it may not pick up the new description on a gallery FB has already seen for a little while (hours or days, I'm not sure). Try it on a gallery that FB has never seen before.

frustrating to say the least. But do not discountt he fact that FB is far from a mature and stable platform itself so they and, to only a slightly lesser degree, SM do have that in common. Hope it works for you in the longer term.

Breck, sorry you find this frustrating. There are two ways to get YOUR words not ours into facebook posts. I listed them above. Album Description, and if you choose to leave that blank, then we'll use sitewide meta from CP. IF you leave that blank, we put in our stuff.

    Does this help?

Andy, that worked fine for me, thanks. I meant it was a frustrating issue with FB. I personally couldn't be happier with the service provided by SM :)

Andy, what about the photo caption for a photo link? It does not appear when pasting to Facebook, and neither does the album description or site description. When that happens then the result is no text at all, which means there is nothing clickable to change. In other words, that hidden FB feature is not even available when there is no text at all. Is SM aware of this?

    As an example:

    http://photos.blackfives.com/Vintage-Black/Culture/Culture-054-3/1147614687_83SQP-S-2.jpg

The above photo has a caption but nothing shows up when posting this link to FB, not even the album or site meta description.

    Thank you.

Captions don't post to FB. But the album description does:

    Thank you Andy.

One last thing, please? What about the Most Popular gallery? I can't get rid of the SM text in there, and it won't pick up my own custom meta text.

Andy, the prior 'post to fb' method did show that text block, which could be edited. But the new feature does not. The only text visible while preparing the post in the smugmug window is the title (which picks up the gallery title, but can be edited) and the open box where we type our text to accompany the post. If there is a gallery description, that posts instead of the default text, but the default text definitely isn't there to be edited, otherwise. I came here looking for a solution and learned that if I add a gallery description, then that will be used. That solution is fine for me. But it is a bit limiting and it would be nice to be able to edit the text as we used to with the old post method. Any chance of that?

I love your animated image, btw! Subtle, and much fun!

Thanks. I noticed that because I put my own SM site on Google Alerts, and the summary was the SM text. This brings up the related question, how can we block Google from picking up the Most Popular gallery, if at all? (Or should that question be in a separate topic?)

Can't block them from seeing that.
