What is this little bird?

I was fishing on Lake Michigan last week with my son, and this little fellow landed on our boat, and would not leave, even when I put my point and shoot only 2-3 inches from his beak. He ( or she ) was plumb tuckered.
I think it may be a Golden Crowned Kinglet - it was barely three inches long. Any one who can identify this bird with certainty?

The little bird is wearing a very contented look.

I'm curious about the end of the story. Did the poor little thing eventually rest up enough to be able to fly away?
I have had butterflies, bats and birds land on my boat for a respite off shore, so I think it happens a lot.
This was the first golden crowned Kinglet, though.
