Hi, I'm quite new to lighting subjects and have struggled a bit over the past few months. I decided to try and do something a bit different with my daughter as I often get bored of seeing the 'same old' style of shots.
Any thoughts or feedback would be greatly received.

THANKS

#2 is awesome, but I'm not sure if I like the "clouds"

Very cool. Put those away for 20 years. She'll be wild about them then.

#2 is really cool. The expression and pose is very believable and natural. Lighting is excellent on that one too. You got the nose shadow just right, not distracting from the image. The harsh shadows are perfect for the mood you are going for as well. Eyes and mouth are well lit and so are both hands. Exposure is really good as well, even on the hammer. Processing is just right. Really good job on this shot and kudos to your little one.

Love the lighting and mood of these, #2 is great but I see half the top of her head erased into the background. Awesome job at something different and nice around Halloween.

Ha ha, she's a ready to tear something apart.
I like how you lit these but I wish you chose your background a little more carefully on the second and fourth one. I also like the treatment on these as well.....
I do like her expression on two and would say that is my fave of the four :-)
    Nice work!

Thanks so much everyone for the positive comments. It means a lot and is a great confidence booster.
I completely agree about the background issue on a couple of the pictures (and the clouds!) I'll be doing a few more of these with different subjects later in the month. Can't wait to get started!
    Thanks again.

    Thanks again guys.

Charles, processing has been my main game for the past 15 years. The photography has come second - something which I'm now hoping to change (hence this post)

For those pictures I started off by increasing the Basic sliders in Adobe Camera Raw (recovery, fill light, blacks and contrast) and then tweaked the contrast in PS.

Here's another shot I bashed off this evening with similar processing...

Extremely cool processing. And your little model did a great job of posing. A good job all the way around. thumb.gif
