First photo assigment Help

Family niece has asked me to take her engagement pictures, so i'm trying to plan for that right now.

What I would like some recommendations on are PPing techniques or tips for really making their pictures pop and look great, also any effects that might look good.

The pictures will be of just the couple probably at the beach and parks.

I'm using Lightroom 3 and CS5.

    Lots of terrific lightroom presets available here http://www.presetsheaven.com/ - these can often be a great starting point for some of the looks you've probably seen wedding photographers use...

    Agreed, since you already have LR 3. I just bought Scott Kelby's book on LR 3 and it came a CD with tons of presets, many of which are designed for wedding type shots. You might want to check it out.
