Hello, I'm trying to print this image
1040393305_9vEoS-M.jpg

at 20"x30" for a final size without losing any of the truck. It says it needs to be cropped in the shopping cart and I lose some from both the left and right sides. I have PS Elements to work with but have not been able to figure out how to crop or resize to not lose any of the photo. Is it even possible? :dunno Thanks for any help!

Your image is 7000x4000, not the original pixels. Can you upload the original file and let me have a go with it? ear.gif

This is the original file http://www.wowmephotos.com/photos/1040460423_7EVpn-M.jpg

It was scanned from a 4x6 print and is only 1736 x 1010. I resized it in CaptureNX. And of course I cannot find the print now to re scan it!
    Thanks.

You are going to need to extend the canvas and fill in with cloning, it won't be easy. I suggest posting in Finishing School forum here on Dgrin, there are plenty of really talented folks there that love a challenge!

Thanks! Stumbling around I found I could print with the "no crop" option and have a white border and not lose any of the truck, I'll see if the person wants it that way.

    Thank You!

Are you sure that you're going to be happy with the quality of a 20x30 that's printed from a scan of a 4x6 print?

I found the original scan (a .bmp file) on an external hard drive. I used that file and cropped it in PS elements using 23" x 34" dimensions. I didn't lose any of the truck in the crop.
This is what I plan to print:

I wrote the support heroes (thanks to Josh Lawson) and he said it should print out fine. When I get it I'll post an update. Keeping my fingers crossed!

You're printing at 58 ppi (1736 pixels/30"). That's pretty low res. The perception of quality will depend upon the viewing distance and the viewer's expectations.

Regardless, it's a scan from a 4x6 (which he said was 1736 x 1010). So, the image is being blown up by a factor of 5x on each linear dimension or 25x in area to make a 20x30 print. There isn't going to be a lot of detail for a picky viewer.
