So, instead of shooting an invention, I thought I'd 'invent' something!!

Does this idea work?

I'd like some crits on the lighting. I found it particularly challenging to light this. I have lights on either side reflecting off the bg. I also have two black cards covering the bg just out of the frame to darken the edges of the glass. Not sure if it's too much or too little.

If it's locked... find an open window.

I do hope your set up to begin selling these!!thumb.gif

And yes, it works, and it's lovely!

Lighting...??hmm... Can't say I like the highlight on it...but I do think it deserves to be bright and very lightly lit.

I think I'd try a couple of things.
    1. Try shooting it in very low light, and longer exposure.
    2. Try shooting it with lights actually point towards it from the back, sides, front and just one side.

Excellent idea! It has a Rube Goldberg quality to it and is pretty to boot.

Tom, great suggestions. I'll have more time to work on it this week. I haven't had much time (or a funcitonal camera) lately, so it feels good to be playing again!

Your suggestions reminded me to go back to the tutorial on shooting glass in Understanding Exposure. You are right on the money.

I know. Sorry to hear of the camera woes. Have you got your main camera back now?

When you find that tute on shooting glass that you like, link it back in here please.

This looks like one of my kids toys, although I'm pretty sure she's not making margaritas with itrolleyes1.gif

I like this, but I personally don't like the white background, just me I'm sureeek7.gif It just seems like the colors aren't popping, unless it's just my computer, I will look on it on another computer and see. It looks like fun, are you sharing those margaritas? :D

It's such a nifty idea! I concurr regarding the white background......it doesn't present the contraption as well as another solid color would.....a quick glance at a color wheel makes me think that a turquoise background would compliment both the red and green. It'd be fun, too.....but perhaps too much.....just an idea, anyway.....

I really like this one. I liked the stoplight/crosswalk sign -- that one has more of a story. But, I really like the colors and rube-goldberg contraption in this one. Tough to choose, actually.

I'm glad you like them both. The crosswalk image belongs to Tatiana! so you'll be pleased to see a version of each in the gallery when it's time to choose! Laughing.gif!
