    andy's taking a pass on this fine piece of glass. folks, troy's stuff is *mint* and i've seen and used this lens. it's in perfect condition.

    Just that the timing is not right. I was just asking some questions about that lens last night in another thread here.

    Troy, perhaps you could answer while we're both here... What's the length of just the lens when the hood is collapsed? Is it the 10.1 inches the Canon site mentions? (they didn't specify if it was with the hood retracted or not) Thanks.

    now, if you were offering up the 400 in late fall... Shucks!

    ok, here is the story...... i ran into some "financial difficulties" that i need to attend to and since i have a 50-500 i decided the 400 might have to go. honestly i hope noone does want it for it is a fantastic lens... thats why u dont see me trying too hard to push the lens out. if the lens does sell, id rebuy the same lens within two months... Its that good!

    i dont have it with me at the moment but it must be with the hood retracted. now as far as the "sale" goes if nobody has interest in the lens i'd gladly keep it a lifetime..... if my 17-40 L ( up for sale ) sells ( and the sale is currently pending ) i can gladly pull the 400 off and keep it.....

    Troy I would gladly help you with your "finanical difficulties" by buying this len but that would put me in financial difficulties of my own. Good luck to you though, I hope things work out without you having to part with this lens, I hear it is one of the nicest telephotos, hopefully one day I'll have one of my own.
