Unfortunately, most photographers won't recognize that as Basin Rapid. (Edit: I see your title now.) That is one tough section of water. I've never paddled it but we've scouted it a few times in low water. In my youth, I climbed quite a few of the routes on Cannon. That was some serious rock back then. Thanks for jiggling my memories.

Hi Airedrifter:
I will begin another thread on rock climbing. I am currently writing a rock climbing guide to the Notches in The White Mountains of New Hampshire.
Really? That's cool. I definitely want a copy. I've been collecting climbing guides for years and years. We've been going up there since 77 or so. I use to be able to call Rick Wilcox a friend.
Once on Witney Gillman, we lost our entire rack on the leader swap just below the pipe! My girl fiend (now my wife) had just bought her first gear loop from Rick's shop. As I handed it off it came unthreaded from buckle! Nobody had bothered to see if the tail had run back through. The image of the gear dropping and dropping in a slow fanning spiral is a precious memory. That was one funny retreat. BTW, we collected all the gear and xrayed it, it was fine. Some of it is still on my dusty rack.
