Facebook "Like" button

I had this turned off, initially, but I do like the Twitter option right under each image.
I guess I just don't see the point in the Facebook "Like" button ... am I missing something critical here? Is there anywhere I can see who has (based on their FB name), or how many people have "Liked" a photo in my galleries?
To my mind, it makes MUCH more sense to have a "Post to wall" button next to the Twitter button - same functionality, separate networks ...
Am I the only one?

Nice - I know there is the "Be Social" drop down, and they can then click on Facebook. Then they can log in. But none of my users find it.
Can we track / run stats on the Liked photos? Ideally based on the FB user who liked it ...

FB doesn't give us that data, sorry

If someone "likes" you photo, it goes to that person's FB page? Does it have your name on it, or is it connected to the original gallery, or, how does this work?

It's important to note I'm not on facebook (yet), so I don't know if the 'prettiness' of the link makes a difference to people.

Yup, it's a different concept as far as Facebook is concerned. Likes are different than posting a link in your status, where you get the thumbnail

Yep - *thats* what I want in a single click underneath the photos. Being such a visual format, it doesn't make sense for people to "like" a bunch of text - I want them to share the photos quickly and simply.

in particular I was thinking of adding the facebook 'like box' to just my 'contact' or 'about' galleries on smugmug...
but only in those places.... I was looking at this thread on FB... the code is a bit over my head and of course i did try it but it did not work...http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box
