Portable Storage Devices (PSD)

Have spent the last couple of hours scoping out options for a portable storage device for my 44 day trip to Thailand.

Of course I would love to have an Epson-P2000...but then I wouldn't be able to afford my trip.:rolleyes

So I'm looking at options that don't include a display screen. Here's my list:

1. Nexto-CF
2. CompactDrive
3. OEM Digibin
4. Sony Photo Vault (uses mini-cd's)

Anybody have thoughts on these products or have any recommendations for a similar product?

I'm leaning towards the CompactDrive or the Nexto-CF at this point...

Thanks!

I have a CompactDrive PD70X and so far, I am quite happy with it. The transfer rate is very good (1 GB SanDisk Ultra II CF card in a little over 2 minutes). I haven't really put battery life to the test, since I generally recharge them at night using the built-in charger. If the specs are correct, they should last quite a while between charges. My only complaint about it is that the build feels a bit fragile, despite the aluminum case. But considering its price, I think it is a good value.

    Cheers.

I just asked the same question last week (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=17813) and after Richards response (15524779-Ti.gif) did a fair bit of research on the Compact Drive. While I haven't purchased it yet thats the one I'm going with. You may also want to do a search on the dpreview forums site. There is quite a bit of info on all the PSD's over there.

    Regards,

and oh BTW Thanks Richard :D
