2. Sound asleep - or she wants you to think she was.

3. I've wanted a little girl in a tutu shot for the LONGEST time, of course I couldn't resist it!! She refused to let me roll her over and show off the pink bow that's on her butt.

4. Baby in the Hat. Big brothers are HUGE Cat in the Hat fans, I didn't know it until I pulled out this hat.

5. One of my favorites, and one I'm "hiding" from mom -- unless she stumbles over here and finds it.

6. The ONLY shot she'd let me get of her propped up like that, and I'm usually the master at getting any baby to do it. She's sly already!

The white background is an off white blanket I snitched from my parents' house. I got the exposure brush to it.

Thanks for commenting, that's my husbands least favorite shot, I'm glad to have an unbiased opinion on it.

Haha, I *still* sleep with my mouth open, and get endlessly teased by my husband for doing it!
Haha, awesome. She'll have two very sad older brothers that probably won't let that happen, trust me, I tried!

Thought I'd throw in my 2 cents (take it or don't ). Sorry in advance if this is going to sound a bit harsh ... but the blown white blanket makes the photos look sooo cheap. Why do you go with this look? The first image is soooo beautiful. I love how the light falls on the dark brown blanket, it just looks cozy and precious!
#2 is beautiful too, though her head seems to be floating in nowhere land Try to not take away all the "information" so the viewer understands how the model is laying.
#3/4/5/6 as cute as I think the girl is, the photos aren't doing it for me . Trust me, I've been there ... I was always annoyed by the stuff my baby-clients were laying on as I just couldn't make it right - and I did, just as you, try to erase the evidence. BUT I think it's working against you I'm just so harsh because I want you to improve what you've got already (= very nice photos of a beautiful baby):D. Try to work WITH the background instead of trying to fight it, and the photos will be AWESOME!
Hope you don't hate me Thanks for sharing, and I can't wait to see what you do next time
Angie, I don't hate you, I value your opinion, promise!!
I've been beating myself up over these shots since I first loaded them into the computer, she should have stayed on that brown blanket and not gone anywhere near the white one. You live and learn I guess.
Also, I had a big window behind me while shooting her and didn't realize until I got home that they had fluorescent lights in their kitchen, so daylight + greenish light isn't making this editing easy, making me learn all kinds of photoshop tricks in the process.
I didn't even notice what you're saying about number 2 until you pointed it out, that brown blanket photographs black sometimes, it could just be my b/w conversion, too. I personally like the color one of that one better.
There's not really an excuse with the "backgrounds" (blanket on a bean bag) it's more of a lack of props at this point, trying to slowly build up my prop collection, but since I go to mom's house to shoot I have to keep in mind exactly how much fits in my car. I have TONS of baskets/bowls to put babies in, even an entire sheep's worth of skin to play with, I just don't have the means to haul it around everywhere. Oh, to have a studio. One day, Gadget, one day!!

Sucks about the light ... been there ... in fact, I AM THERE right now! We have this little apartment, which doesn't get any light these days, and that's with some HUGE windows facing out. Anyway! It's not about the blanket, blankets are GREAT and TOTALLY SUFFICIENT. Check out this photographer: http://babyasart.com/blog/ I looooove his/her simple photos! They use hardly any props for the indoor photos ...
I'm a HUGE fan of Kelley Ryden (ww.KelleyRyden.com)/Tracy Raver (www.tracyraver.com) shots, they have a similar style to that photog.
Oh to have all of my babies *that* sleepy.
