Which way to jump?

1) The tools of an everyday inventor.

or 2)

Don, I just adore simplicity, which is a key reason Numba 3 would get my vote. I do think it needs another crop or perspective, but I'm liking it!

I hear ya! That's the one I'm leaning towards, too. I can do updated, partly, further transformed shots, too. It is a piece I am currently working on at work.

Waiting to hear from others. too.....

#1 would be better if there was a clear focal point or design. Right now the eye just wanders around looking for a place to settle.

#3 is good, prolly needs a better angle or perspective, as was said above.

In #3, how did you get the tack hammer and bottle of glue to levitate above the piece? JK!

I like the simplicity of the wood and tools. But, I agree that the perspective is a bit confusing.

I agree with the previous comments.

The first could work if you used a very narrow DOF and focused on just the eraser. I know that is my best tool. :D

I reshot this piece with some more transmorgrification to it and a bit of 'tilt-shift' in LR3.2 to it.

Am I ming in the correct direction?

I like the crop but I would keep all the other details (less black) and just change the yellow cast...

yes .. I really like that crop. Maybe play with cropping it a couple of different ways where the book is the item that draws the eye. There's just something about that book that has alot of character .. imo.

    1) less yellow and brighter:

    1047695077_Howev-L-1.jpg

    3) An updated version with better background (what it will be a part of) and more tools!

Thanks, It is all old tools I have and use. The spirit level top right is antique. Need to reshoot for less glare and more clarity!

Oh, yeah! This is different and very nice thumb.gif

What about the top right corner? I'm thinking that maybe it should be the same texture as the table...headscratch.gif

I like this one, too. The lighting seems a bit harsh and the foreground isn't in crisp focus.

I'm still partial to the one with the wood and tools.

Yeah, not a studio shot. Dining room table with chandelier for light. rolleyes1.gif hand held at 400 ISO, too.

Time to break out some more equipment, especially the tripod.

Here is a re-crop of the current idea I'm working on:

    1048998565_usxHg-L.jpg

Unfortuately I can't currently work on the other idea, because the larger tools and that 'Steel' Railroad bridge are at work and I wont be there again 'til Monday with little time to shoot.

That is why I'm currently following the lead I've got going now.
