I totally love this idea, and the colorization works quite well.

The Only, only thing I could think of to take it further would be if you could talk someone into walking against the arrow in the pic versus standing there, as this bystander was!

    I like!:D

    Thank you Tom,

I do have few shots with people walking (crossing the street) against the arrow sense. However, pressing the button, while they were already crossing doesn't make sense.
(of course, my husband who's hand is in the photo, didn't really press the button, so people were crossing as usual)

I chose this instance where the guy was waiting for the sign to change and all the cars to stop, as a demonstration
of the idea of the system: you have to press the button in order to be able to cross.

    Oh, I made a basic mistake! - obviously I'm not a good driver... bowdown.gif

Originally the stop light was green and I just thought to change it to red - oh, thank you so much for
suggesting that something was not right...

I'll change the stop light back to green.

    Thank you, thank you!

    Here is the correct image:

    #1 Safe crosswalk system

    1047030522_AwAPm-L.jpg

    Is it better now?

    * Yes, graphically speaking, I took my husband's hand in the about same position as the hand in the picture, but pointing in the opposite direction.

You are saying that also, showing people crossing against the sense of the arrow, would make a good looking image. - I know what you are saying.

However, for the demonstration of the idea of this "invention", that image wouldn't make sense...

    - any thoughts?

I tend to want to keep looking at the man in the background, then look at the yellow signs. Maybe that's just me. :)

Thank you Jenn, this is good, because more or less, this is the idea: he cannot cross, unless the button is pushed.

I like #2 - 2 if it was cropped right above the yellow sign so the red stop light would be out of the picture. I think the red lights kind of draw my eyes away from the main subject. Without them my eyes go right to the yellow signs.

I think if you added a subtle vignette to the last one, you'll be able to keep the user's attention on the signal button-thingie and not on the green light. I think the green light needs to stay in the photo because it adds context to it. I like how the man in the background seems to be looking at what you're doing.

If you need a vignette action, go here, scroll down to Frames and Mattes and download Custom Vignette 3.2 or Custom Vignette 2.0, depending on your version of Photoshop. I have CS5 and have been able to run the 3.2 version of that action with no problem.

I think if you masked out the vignette from the yellow sign it would look better. headscratch.gif But I really like the last one you posted with the blue sleeve. mwink.gif That blue sleeve is just what that shot needed to divert the viewer's attention from the ladies. It's also a nice example of tastefully done selective coloring and I'm glad you entered it!

    Hi,

Due to the tremendous enthusiasm regarding my entry in the contest gallery, I feel like something is not exactly right mwink.gif

I'm wondering if a re-worked version would be better headscratch.gif

    This is my current entry:

    1049151424_pkSCS-L.jpg

    This is the re-worked version:

    1052311518_D3pfy-L.jpg

Please tell me if the second one would make a difference, or should I go with something else...

    Thank you,

I really like this entry - real life is like a mirror image of the sign! I can see where the crop on the rework helped remove a little clutter on the bottom (that I hadn't noticed before). I prefer the color/brightness of the original background but the selective coloration in the rework. The background rework seems overcast or muted, like it has a touch of a tan tone to it instead of just being b/w. Something else I had not noticed before in the original entry is that there seems to be a little halo around the selective coloration on the top of the hand & button thing, & I don't see that on the reworked shot.
