Nighttime in Washington, DC
I sometimes have the urge to get out and wander around the monuments under DC's lovely purple night sky. These trips started out few and far-between, but I've met up with some fellow dgrinners on occasion, who have shown me some off-the-beaten-path shots and helped me with my photography. I'll start with last night's outing, and work my way back to the beginning.
Wednesday, September 13: Organization of American States Building + LED fountain:
I had to dodge some of the Transformers 3 traffic, they had lights set up at the Lincoln Memorial and I avoided it as much as I could. Sorry, no spy shots, any filmophiles out there.
OAS rear facade:

Busts in the OAS gardens:
#2, #3
Simon Bolivar on the horse, I believe.
#4, #5
Curt and I spent about an hour down at OAS. I had a momentary panic because I had transferred my camera to the holster case, and hadn't transferred any of the SD cards - and had removed the one in the camera to download pictures... but then I remembered that I keep a low volume spare in my wallet at all times, so I pulled it out and saved my evening! I had to take in Basic JPEG (most compressed) but still managed to not hit my limit with 12mp shots.
Curt saw a local anchorwoman set up in front of this fountain, so we caravaned down there to take a few shots before the lights shut off at 10:36.

Once the lights went out, we turned our attention to the lower level fountain

And with that, we called it a night.

While I was in the area taking pictures of spaceships, I thought I'd head over to Bannecker Park, at the end of the L'Enfant Promenade, I hadn't been here before but I'd seen pictures with this black monolithic fountain as the foreground for the 4th fireworks. No fireworks this time, but it's an interesting sujbect nonetheless.

Thanks Neal, it was pretty neat. I don't think that our photos will be quite as interesting as yours, as Curt and I were lacking a beautiful model and a wedding dress last night.

I want to do some more night shooting in DC. We'll have to try and plan something. Maybe we can find someone to wear the dress (as long is it isn't Curt).

Jackie - thanks! I realize now that multiple posts with numbers starting over at each one are a little confusing - I may add some older photos here, so to keep it all straight I'll have to go back and re-number.
I'm pleased with how the B&W conversion came out on the lower fountain photo, but I may try to clone out the truck and straighten it a little bit before I'm 100% satisfied.
