Does this work? C&C appreciated. Thanks. :D

I was thinking along the line of "What Every Inventor Strives to Invent".

I definitely like the more normal processing of the first photo!

On the "does this Work ?" I wonder too. I do not think it very strong in theme. I do think seeing bread coming out of an oven, or even with sandwich material between it, would be stronger.

I was thinking how every inventor wants to invent something that's the "greatest thing since sliced bread". Hence, the sliced bread. ne_nau.gif Hmmm....if my take on the theme isn't hitting the mark, then I'll need to head back to the drawing board. headscratch.gif

Very nice images, I like the first one better too.

I didn't know the saying about the sliced bread...

I got it and I'm usually horrible with cliches.
I think it doesn't jive with my image of what I think about when I hear that saying. I always think of white wonder bread, and how easy it made things just pull it already sliced out of the bag. I never though homemade-looking sliced bread. So that's the only reason why it doesn't work so well for me. I get it though and the first is a real nice image.

Two more with some pre-sliced white bread. No reshoot is possible until we head to the store for more. rolleyes1.gifWhat you're looking at was the last of this morning's toast. Literally.

C&C would be much appreciated. Thank you so very much.

I actually thought of doing this! I like the idea of pre-sliced bread, too, maybe including the packaging where the label says "sliced". I think the shadows are a bit harsh on these.

    Hi Linda,

I also find that there are some distracting shadows there.

As I mentioned, I didn't know about this saying but, considering Liz comments, I would have expected to see
no cutting board there, but the actual package of already cut bread - one of the American "consumerism" invention...

Thanks, Kate & Tatiana. Seems like I have to go back to the drawing board. headscratch.gif Or pray that I get lucky tomorrow and find something already invented to photograph. ne_nau.gifD

Laughing.gif...You know, I originally had a big Ginsu knife in a version of the first one but the darn thing was so big it overwhelmed what was left of that poor little loaf of bread. rolleyes1.gif We polished that loaf off with dinner on Friday. So now we have no more bread in the house. Can't even attempt another bread shoot until I head to the store tomorrow. Perhaps using a full loaf of bread rather than remnants will work better with a bigger knife. Ditto for a package of Wonder bread.

I like this one with the knife cropped out altogether and the right edge cropped off.

For me, it's a loose interpretation of the topic (so is my entrant), but I got what you are saying right away with the first image. Yuuuuuummmm.....that is great-looking bread. Love the warm tones of the image and the presentation, but I find the hardware? grey bokeh? on the cabinet in the background a bit distracting from such a beautiful subject.
