I'm a 'contrasty' kinda guy but of all these, I really dig #3 the best.
I also like the 'peek-a-boo' effect of #4.
I'm not real sure about the 1st two, I'm perched on the fence here and I *think*, for me, its a dof issue.... More, less,,,, I dunno...... But the image does SCREAM a seasonal change and one knows that nothing but twigs will soon be only seen.

#3 -- almost didn't include that one. Thought it was a "I like only" kind of photo
Peek-a-boo effect...I like that terminology for that photo. It came out really close to that effect when I took it so I just removed some stems and called it done.
Completely understand your thoughts on the first two. I was really having some issues taking those. Knew what I wanted, but had a hard time getting there

Actually, Mary, my body has never adjusted to the bloody summer heat. I do suffer a lot but not enough to experience -200F. :cry Am looking forward to more photos of prairies.. no bison?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Yes I do have some buffalo photos, but can't display them yet. Need to get permission to put them on my site since they can be bought on there. I posted some of the white buffalo from last winter. Think I pulled those off the thread too.
