Rule of thirds?

Hey guys... quick post for feedback if you could.

I took a couple pics of iguanas that were all over St. Thomas when I visited. I'm trying to stay with the principle of rule of thirds, so I cropped this picture ... but I still prefer the original. Thoughts? Or are neitehr very striking? :dunno

    That's an amazing looking creature, and well captured. My personal preference is for the first picture, but I can't give you any technical reasons for that choice. I just like it better.

    What if you crop him to the left of the frame? That may leave too much nothing-space on the right though...

    I like the second image best. It has more impact and really catches my eye. Much more than the other two images.

    Im NOT showing this to mt 5 year old grandson he already wants a lizzard lol its a very nice pic like the second one his coloring is beautiful:)

    Nice pics of Mr. Lizard. Both work reasonably well. However, why the size ratio constraint? I think you can crop a nice squarish pic out the first one.
