So, I have to send some photos into this magazine, and they require that your name and a description of the photo is in the meta data. How do I do this? You guys know of any free program for this? Thanks

Justin

    You did say "free"?

Try GeoSetter: http://www.geosetter.de/en/, from the creator of the 2002 outstanding Exifer (which is not being updated).

    Or try IrfanView: http://www.irfanview.com/.

    Both can edit metadata.

Aperture edits Metadata: EXIF, IPTC, etc.
Aperture does this. The magazine probably wants you to put this info in the IPTC metadata, and you can pre-fill the fields that don't change, and have it put in the embedded metadata automatically upon import from the media card.

If you're using ACDSee Pro Photo Manager on Windows does this too.

Also I believe that Windows 7 can do some of this for you by right clicking on the image and selecting the Details or Adavanced tab should be able to edit the displayed data. I am not positive.

For a jpeg file, at least (not for a psd), you can change some of the metadata. Right click, properties, details. Most of the fields displayed seem editable, but there are lots of fields not displayed.
