so whatdya think - straighten or leave as-is? I normally straighten almost every horizon, but this one I think almost looks better this way.

Thanks. I normally do, this time it seemed like "as shot" captured more of the emotion. I just went ahead and did it (and took the opportunity to pump up the colors a bit too), so here's a comparison.





I'm still not sure which I like better I think you're right.

Did you rotate it too much? The sideline isn't level, and I don't think the fence is either? It's hard to tell at this size, but maybe you can go back CW a bit.

You're right, it is hard to tell. Even standing on the field I think we'd be hard-pressed to say exactly *what* is level, given sight angles and perspective, crown of the field, etc (some of the stands even have a slight curve to them, to help water flow off I believe). I chose a section of the fence to level using Photoshop; it's possible that I chose a section that's not *really* level.

If we weren't talking about straightening horizons, would it still be noticable or distracting?

I don't think you were being argumentative. We are a friendly bunch here!

I think it is a bit distracting in the original version, but not in the second version. Either way though, the kids will love it. We are just being picky, as is our nature.

Steve, the corrected version looks great!

The hard part is to keep in mind all the different things we need
to be aware of in the viewfinder. Horizon being one of them.

BTW, I find myself screwing up the horizon all the time

Hey, even with the skewed horizon, it sold - though the paper cropped it so you can't see the sideline at all... along with 5 other shots from that game - they even used my http://miltonsports.smugmug.com/gallery/785462/1/34846484 as the front-page photo for this week's paper*
