I was kind of afraid to post it for fear it wouldn't be seen with everyone
back at work and all. But I do like it myself.
It was taken at the big dog park. She was a joy to photograph. I was using the 400, that is full frame, but she had no idea, nor care, that her photo was being taken, many times.
I have other shots of her, and, of course, of dogs. I started with my dogs and then just about filled all my cards with other dogs, and, of course, that girl.
You have great courage to post a shot with the face away from the camera where we can't even see the eyes and with the horizon line running through the subjects head. Surely someone here on dgrin will complain ( that is a joke of course ):D
I really like this photo. The B/W conversion really works here. Have you considered a title for the work? Often times I find that a catchy title or something with meaning really adds to the photography and bring new emotion to the photo.
Any ideas for a title?
How about..... "Innocence"? hmmm. ok, maybe that doesnt quite work...maybe you have some thoughts?
Excellent picture! This is very professional. I can imagine seeing this in a gallery or printed on a postcard or calendar. Great work!
Also, since I'm not familiar, how does one create a border like the one on this picture? If there's a link to another thread, I'd appreciate it.
I appreciate every thing everyone has said. I feel bad about just responding here right now, but time........... constrains.
I found the "tutorial" for making that border in Scott Kelby's book, "The Photoshop CS2 book". There is a great chapter on presenting your photographs. There are other things, but this is the one I have tried.
Thank you, I do like it, too.
If you can't find this info anywhere, I will try to type it out, but his info comes with pictures and all. I am not good at tutorials.
Thank you so much all, I don't think I have had such a positive response almost ever. It makes me feel very good.
Sorry to be so late...
with my comments. I've been gone all day. Just came in.
Ginger, this is beautiful. I do like the idea someone mentioned of a special title for it. I love the frame too. I saw that in the book, but have not tried it. I think the treatment requires a special image and this is certainly special.
Way to go.
Just going to add my personal hand-claps to the ongoing applause! Such a great shot! I do think there is a kind of jealousy that is good; it spurs people on in an encouraging way. These kind of shots have that kind of effect on me.

Ginger, the girl is a lovely shot, I second what others have said, it really looks like a book dust-jacket. BUT where are the dog-shots. Twice now you have said you took some shots of the dogs - okay, where are they, how soon?

This is such a lovely photo. Great compostion and use of black and white. There is such a easy going feel to this photo--of youth and being carefree.
Personally, I feel that the white frame is a bit too thick--but that is just personal taste.
Wonderful job.

Thank you all so much. She was wonderful to photograph.
So much expression in her hands. I do think that many of the
motions were probably learned by watching an adult, or, having had
children, who knows, but she was very expressive. I wanted to show
her as ethereal or fey, or whatever. I needed to keep her light, yet hold
"the color". I have it in color and in black and white, with and without the
frame. The frame is said to be a poster, I did not really think of it as a
frame. I don't know what I will do with it. It is a type shot I would die
for, I am kind of amazed myself that I took it. And at the dog park,
Which I forced myself to take the dogs to in the middle of the day.
I think that may have been my reward, though I did get many good shots
of dogs, too.:D
Thank you all so much.
