A few shots from yesterday as I snuck away for 25 minutes while picking up Chinese food for dinner (please don't tell the wife why it took so long....)

All taken about 1 hour or less from sunset with the 70-300DO IS mostly at 300....I think a couple of these are among my best bif's to-date.

    Those are really nice. I've been trying to get some BIF lately and just suck at it. Would you mind posting your aperture and shutter speeds? That first one is really nice, I like how it's walking on the water.

    Those are great birds in flight, but I really like the one walking on water!

    re aperture and speed...
    most of the time I was shooting at ISO 800 with f/6.3 or f/7.1 around 1/800 to 1/2000 of a second. I would guess most of the sky shots have a little +exposure comp as well. If there's a specific photo, you're curious about, I'd be happy to post the exif.

    Yes though actually is was my cool Vulcan logic that allowed me to make camera adjustments on the fly as mallards zipped by overhead. No emotions involved at all.:):
