Any thoughts and feelings on the Promaster 7500EDF ? Trying to get some input before purchasing one for my Oly. E-510. My question is is it a decent flash for $250 vs. the $449 for the Oly.FL-50 ? Will this fit a Oly E-30 body as well. I do plan on moving to an E- 30 body soon. Thanks for the input.

    It doesn't look bad.

Any flash that fits the e510 should fit and work in the same way on any other Olympus dSLR. One thing that gives me hesitation is the recycle time. The Promaster website lists up to a 10 second recycle time. Yikes. I don't know off the top of my head, but in my use of the FL50r, I think full power recharge time is much, much shorter.

Check Adorama. They usually have used FL50rs for $300-$350. I'd encourage that route.

I broke down and bought the Promaster 7500EDF. It has a decent recycle time with a fresh set of batteries. As soon as I get a chance to use it, I will post a photo on here.

If I'm not mistaken fl50 takes 7-8 seconds to recharge when fired at full power...

I have owned that flash for well over a year. Went from my XSi to my current 7D. I love it, I did not have the $$$ to buy a canon one.

Only issue I had was a connector came loose, but it was 4 screws and I was able to reconnect it.
Sorry I don't drift..but do take the photos.

I had a top line promaster about 7 or so yrs ago...bought because I was down to 1 viv285hv and then it grenaded the night before the wedding....and I had to buy something fast and only 1 store in all of NW Arkansas had 1 flash that would fit my Nikon f70......it sucked big time..recycle time was near 10+ seconds....it ate batteries and it lasted exactly 1 day past the warranty and they refused to do anything....now in light of warranties and the law they were perfectly with in their right to refuse....but I had never had a photo equipment company to do that....I have sent stuff in for repairs a month after expired warranty only to get it fixed for free with a letter of apology from the manufacturer.......

I truly hope your promaster does better than mine.....I would have opted for a $90 Viv285HV and shoot in manual mode until I could get a truly good flash...or bought a Sigma 500DG Super or a 530DG Super...which ever one I could afford......do not let the name fool you I have never found a piece of promaster equipment to be worth its retail price.

    Good Luck
