This is my best skyscape shot by far. I had so many wonder comments. Hope you all enjoy it.

Wow, I didn't know you could see skies like that in NJ.

Just kidding, Abe. But seriously, it's a beautiful shot. Is it straight OOC or did you post-process it any to bring out the colors?

Laughing.gif! reminds me of one of my kids favorite movie, Madagascar two i think, when the muskrat says 'this place is a dump, must be New Jersey'.

There is some post processing but not much. I always adjust the tone curve but on this one I also boosted the saturation just a bit (not even one full level). I am not big on adding a lot of processing to my photos.

Now the funny thing about this photo is that it was taken right behind a mall while I waiting for the wife to finish shopping, near our home.

The reason that you do see skies like this in New Jersey and New york City is because of the light refraction through the pollution. The most polluted cities on Earth have the nicest sunsets.

Oh yeah..... that is one beautiful sky but I also like how you have finished it off with just a touch of silhouette of the land on the bottom.... very good!!

not sure how much pollution affected the outcome of this pic, this is an hour north west of NYC (if it matters). I really don't know much about this sort of thing.

I must try that with my new 7d and 24 - 105. What ISO did you use?
