Canon EH17-L

So it turns out I need to toss my 20D in a backpack and it needs to be as compact, protected, and accessible as possible (unfortunately the backpack is already full of other stuff, so a camera pack won’t work). I couldn’t find much, so I’m looking at the EH17-L. What I am wondering is how does the back part attach to the camera? Is it via the tripod mount? If so, is it possible to attach something else, like my handy dandy Hakuba LH grip? Perhaps someone can post a pic of the bottom of the EH17? I’m wondering if I couldn’t secure it using the bracket for the hand strap itself. Finally, is this case even worth the trouble? Is there somtething better?

I couldn't find any reviews.
I really want to know how it attaches on the bottom and if it will fit with the Canon 28-135 IS lens.
but this guy did: http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-reviews/A2B1NB0FYI90XP/ref=cm_cr_auth/002-1378379-0377602?%5Fencoding=UTF8

I'll probably just buy one soon enough and the I will review it for real.
A number of months ago, one of our regulars posted a link for a company that makes him custom made cases (lens primarily). I don't remember if it was Patch29 (a professed member of CAA... Case-aholics anonymous) or someone like Pathfinder. Maybe this will jog someone else's memory ...
Even if it doesn't, why don't you see if you have a local company that makes custom made padded bags. Here in Edmonton, we have a few companies that will make a bag for absolutely anything, from snowboards to cameras ... If you need a bag, they can create it. The only trick is, they need the object to create the custom bag.
This way, you could get a bag that fits, and has the necessary padding to protect your camera from any other objects in your backpack ...
Just trying to think outside the box ...
