Really neat to see pics from an "insider" - keep posting. It is humbing to see our puny attempts to control mother nature. And while I feel compassion and empathy for those who were in the path of the storm, I have little patience for the lawbreakers. Your opinions of the situation are welcome with me - you've been there and participated!

Other than that the looting seemed like such a minor thing to me.
That's really scary, Ginger. People breaking the law is a "minor" thing? People stealing TV's and jewelry, instead of doing something to make their situation better is a minor thing? Remember what our secret agent said, places where all the alcohol and tabacco were looted, when the cash registers and ATM's were looted (where were they going to spend that money?), and yet not all the food nor water in the store was taken??? Where are their priorities???

I really don't want to argue. The alcohol, drugs, guns, they are scary. When people are dying, I don't care about the TVs, etc.

However, we feel as we feel. It is difficult to argue with how I feel about something, and the same with you.

So it can be major with you, minor with me, and if we were there, we might both be involved in different things.

I have never looted, for the record. I have lied, cheated, etc. Not often, but I have, but I have never looted and only stole something from a dime store once as a kid.

If I am in danger of dying, and others are looting and there is only one person there, I would prefer that the person saves me rather than punishing the looters. But that is just me.

I would hate to see all lists shut down.

I would rather not argue as well - but all I can say Ginger is when people got out of hand, they made it diffucult for rescue workers to do their job. They were SHOOTING at rescue workers. Rescue operations were basically SHUT DOWN for a day because of it. Do you realize how many died because of this? It may have only been a small number of people, but this small number caused a lot of grief on a large number of people who deserved to be helped. It was sad.

    shootout
This is the bridge where N.O. Police had a shootout with 6 thugs. We were initialy told 5 of them died but I later heard on Fox that only 2 died and the rest were injured. Not sure what the truth is.

This is Highway 90 at Downman Road if you are familiar with N.O.

    The Post Office
Post Office trucks seemed to be a favorite among thugs. Apparantely, either the keys are left in these things or they are easy to wire - because the bad guys had them everywhere.

The good guys took this one back.

Unfortunatrely this is a bit blurry :(
