    I voted for 5.

1, is my favorite, but the butterfly blends into the background to much, and
the tip of the wing was cut off. But the camera angle, and the focus is
    outstanding.

2, same as above, blends in to much with the flower.

3, Another very nice pic, but the yellow blob takes me away from the butterfly.

4, Another nice photo, I just wish the camera could have been down lower.

5, This is a really good photo. I think if you darken the yellow near the wings
just a bit, it will work very well.

As a series, the focus, color, and exposure are right on.

I hope you don't mind my take on your photos.

Definitely #3. The colors really make him stand out from the background. My only suggestion would be to give him a little more room at the top so that it doesn't look like he's being crushed into the flower by the top of the frame.

I like #3 the best, but would consider cropping the left edge and bottom about 20% or so.

I also liked #3 but would have shot (or cropped) it differently. I would like to see a tad more room between image edge and top tip of wing. You almost clipped it off. I would have allowed more room on top...and included less of the stalk of the plant. The extra space on the left isn't such an issue for me. I always like room for the subject to move/look into. Nice shots all around.

Careful cropping might make the last one arresting.

Going against the flow. I like the balance and content of #4 the best. Number #3 definitely had me looking, but I don't like quite so much open space. However, cropping it tight would not be right IMO.

    Thanks everyone.

I am greatful for all of the thoughtful comments. Some very good points. were made.

Sometimes you are too close to the images to evaluate them yourself, at least when they are new.

I usually wait a couple of weeks after they are taken and go back and look at them. Often I can be more critical of them when they are not fresh.

The butterfly in number three was beautiful. I took several shots before he flew off but they were all a bit soft except this one. am suprised it came out at all as the wind had picked up some and he was waving around like a flag on the fourth of july.

I wish it was a bit tighter, with a bit more room at the top. I had to back off a bit to have any hope of catching him/her in frame at all in mid sway.

I like the wasps, but I didn't think they would have the appeal that the butterflys do.

The detail in number one is cool, but as mentioned, the wing is clipped. A major flaw.

I liked the white one but he could stand out from the background a bit more. A little PS work would help that but the more I work on things the worse they tend to look. I may try it just for the practice.

I would like to thank you all for taking the time to look and to vote and/or comment.

I guess I like to give my butterflys room, so I went with #5, good series!

[I went with 5, as there is less conflicting same colors as background. I'd crop a hair more on the left and bottom. The bokeh is nice too.
