Lost meta data in LR3?

Does LR3 not read the complete meta data? Here's the situation...

I was doing some experiementing (practice/learning) with manual flash levels and changing exposures. I set up my tripod and a "subject" and took a bunch of shots varying the exposure values and flash level. When I chimped the images, it told me "flash - manual, 1/32" or "1/40" or whatever value I had set. If I shot in TTL mode, it would just say "TTL" and whether or not I'd dialed in flash compensation.

I thought it would be great, I could pull the images into LR3 and do a little learning on the effects of changing flash levels, since I've never played with manual flash. But when I imported, all the meta data says in LR3 is "did fire" or "did not fire" or something to that effect. The actual flash level is not there. So I can't look at the images with the knowledge of what the flash settings were.

Is that data Nikon-specific so that it shows up on the camera but isn't read by LR3? Is that info recoverable from the RAW files somehow (I've deleted/formatted the pics from the CF card)?

Edit: Just looked up on J.Friedl's Goodies page, and maybe his "metadata viewer" plugin is what I'm looking for. But if anyone has any other suggestions/advice, I'd be glad to hear it. Thanks!

Exifutils ( www.hugsan.com/EXIFutils ) shows, and edits if you want to, all the exif in an image, including raw images. Not free but well worth. It also is a pretty good reference to what is available in exif info.

Here is an example of the kind of stuff it pulls from a Canon raw file. Not everything is decoded but with a little testing you can decode some of it yourself.

I believe the Panda exif viewer may give you what you are looking for. Its free too.
I don't remember seeing flash levels, but I was not looking either.

I share Dan's enthusiasm for EXIFUtils but I'm not exactly sure it will solve the flash settings problem. I'll do some experiments later and report back.

Thanks, everyone. I downloaded Friedl's metadata viewer, and the results look similar to Dan's example. It does include the flash level. It's not quite as convenient as I'd hoped. What I'd really like is for LR3 to display the desired data right there in the panel in the Library module, rather than having to invoke a separate utility or plug-in. But I understand that every OEM has different data included with their file formats, so Adobe doesn't necessarily read and display "everything." For the purposes of this particular experiment, I can get the data I want using this plug-in, but I'd still like LR3 to give me more "automatically."
