We quickly got bored--it was oh so bland there--so I took her to my side of town :)

7. Yes I am aware I blew this one--the processing stinks (I am struggling with it) and I had it exposed and metered incorrectly, blowing out the subway train. But I like the shot itself.

She showed me how to get the most out of my spot metering--and I introduced her to the best street tamales in town. It was a win-win. It was my first time shooting with anyone else, especially someone that knows what they are doing.

#2 is awesome- so much going on.. the Emipe State makes a cameo, the "Housewives with Balls" ad, and the lady mix nice.

The rest are nice.. but #2 is the one with "juice".

Great series Liz. Blown subway or not, that last shot is my favourite. Lots to study. What an opportunity to shoot with Jenn. She's a long way from home!!

lol--thanks misterb. I was glad to see the Empire State building made it into my frame--it was a one shot deal.

She looks like a tough woman, so I thought it appropriate.
I honestly didn't know it had quite that much going on until processing the shot. I was mostly wanting to get the phone booth and lady--the rest was icing.

    Thank you.

    Patti,
It was a crowded Saturday and I turned to face the train and as I was eyeballing the scene (I rememer wanting to shoot it but didn't really know why) and Jenn said to me, "that would make a great shot with the three layers/levels" and it clicked. I knew I wanted the shot but didn't really know why. She also suggested a portrait aspect, but unfortunately those were pretty bad and I cropped my landscape shot square.
I do like it too--very much--it shows just how crowded this place is.

    It was a wonderful experience.

    It was a wonderful experience.

It was an absolutely fantastic experience. It's always tough trying to shoot with someone else, but it really clicked for me shooting with Liz. Very comfortable, good conversation and the both of us still managing to shoot what we would probably do on our own.

Knowing what you had to work with, I think #3 is excellent and you captured the essence of what I was imagining for #7.

Btw, we really need to stop meeting in restrooms like that. mwink.gif Too funny.

I like the series overall with #3 and #7 being my favorites. #3 leaps out at me because you're watching people who are people watching. The 5 of them seem perfectly content just watching the world go by. #7 has a lot going on, yet somehow manages not to be overwhelming. Living in a small city like I do, I don't get to see scenes like this. Kind of sparks a sense of wonder in me.

    Thank you for sharing, Liz!

The restroom rolleyes1.gif--well that was the icebreaker I guess.
I now have high expectations of dgrin meet ups.

You're welcome:) glad you like them.
Even though I was born here, I lived abroad and in a small town too, so even though I've been back here for 14 years the city can sometimes still astound me. Really makes me appreciate living here.

    wahooo, like to hear that.
It was great--I remember being envious that my little brother got to shoot with you--but finally I was able to shoot with someone--a street shooter no less--made my day.

Okay, I have driven myself crazy enough with the first shot... Only thing I can figure out is that there is a corner glass that is refracting the light funny. Otherwise I cannot figure out why the people are disjointed on that left edge...

Moving on, it is a tremendous series. What is the setting for #3. Reminds me of the "Tower of Terror" when the door opens and you peer out on Disney World/Disneyland. And the last is to die for -- great execution and seeing...

Glad you two had such a good time and produced such wonderful photos!

I can't stop looking at #4. What on Earth are those ladies looking at? They look like they're gossiping or maybe even plotting. Ha!

Great set. The last one is the stand out in my opinion.

I drove myself crazy with that shot myself.
My husband looked at it too and we still can't figure it out!
    I'm glad you noticed it.

As for shot #3-this is the setting
    1062071578_qnGrK-L.jpg
You see the second level--the level below the women but above the street--that's where I shot #3.

this is another view of it also

my guess is they were looking at Jenn aka michswiss rolleyes1.gif who I shot with on that day--she stood out a little bit:) She was walking next to me shooting when I got that shot of the two ladies.

But I can never hear again about how anyone can't street shoot because they stand out in a crowd--after seeing Jenn at work that theory goes out the door. She is tall--I am 5'8 and she's a few inches taller and she's white in what was a predominantly hispanic neighborhood. So if I ever hear myself something like that I will think of her who was incredibly comfortable shooting--the phrase cool as a cucumber comes to mind.

The last one seems to be the winner.

    Thanks for commenting.
