Arrange galleries... waiting for thumbnails

Aside from the annoyance of the arrange galleries changes simply not sticking (especially when you try to arrange an empty gallery), there's one thing that drives me absolutely nuts. Why do we have to wait for all the thumbnails to load before we can start arranging? I just had to reload the page about 5 times because two thumbnails (for smart galleries) refused to load. I just needed two clicks... but it took a very annoying few minutes.
Is there a technical reason the thumbnails have to load before we can use the tool or is there maybe an easy way to shut that "feature" off?

I'm just talking about the javascript popup that says something like "please wait for page to finish loading" that comes up when you try to click on a gallery to arrange before all the thumbnails have finished loading. I don't need thumbnails on that page at all... I don't look at them, I look at gallery names. I wouldn't ever use the tool if there was a way to automatically arrange galleries by creation date. I just want new galleries at the top of the list. I create at least one new gallery weekly, so I'm doing this a lot. When a subcategory has a lot of galleries in it, that arrange page can take quite a while to finish loading at times.
How about losing the arrange galleries tool altogether and doing it like the "arrange mode" for photos within a gallery? No need to go into another tool just to move things around.
