Need way to detect unlisted gallery

I'm looking for a way (using JS or CSS) to detect an unlisted gallery when it's displayed so it can be modified automatically when it's unlisted. Does any such thing exist? Are there any internal SM JS variables that indicate whether the gallery being displayed is unlisted or not?
There's special text and a unique class assigned to that text in the breadcrumb when logged in, but that isn't there when not logged in so that doesn't work.
Any ideas?

You're probably better off posing this question in the "SmugMug Customization" forum which deals specifically with customising the SmugMug pages.
