The streets of Hanoi

I just got around to making a gallery of some stuff I shot on the streets of Hanoi and thought I'd share. Hanoi's a cool place and we wandered around at night and during the day. Like a lot of places in Asia, there are some streets organized a specific type of merchandise, like the night shot below from "fashion street". Transport is mostly by motorcycle & bike, cheap & efficient with lots of capacity and creativity. I liked that, and it makes me a little sad when I compare Hanoi to some of the bigger cities inChina where cars are taking away from the intimacy of the streets in most of vietnam, but I suppose that is one of the prices of progress!

#3 is my favorite. I wonder whether you have any other shots of the last one? In particular, I think it would be interesting to see more of what's happening above the shops. Nice set. thumb.gif

#3 to me has a lot going on if you think... Like the subject lady and the model, and the 'balance' between two lifestyles in her carrying the product. thumb.gif

I like the last the best with the repetition of the people, bikes, stores, etc. It is always a pleasure to view shots from these faraway places.

    Thanks for sharing them.

Hanoi IS a fascinating place with a vibrant street life, I hope to go back soon to see what changes have taken place in the year and a half since I was last there. I have a bunch of street shots form Ho Chih Minh City and Rach Gia that I will post as soon as I get the time. Vietnam has a lot of contrasty lifestyle, I think. It's interesting how different the country is in the few places I've been lucky enough to visit.

#2 is my favorite, but #3 and #4 are close behind. #3...it just has a charm to it that I can't quite put my finger on. All the bikes in #4 just shows how much people rely on them. All very good shots. Thank you for sharing!
