not sure why he's pointing.. his face is lit poorly.. his left leg looks hyper extended.. Its a very odd angle..

But he liked it! Which is the only thing that truly matters. clap.gif Congrats on the first paid job! I remember mine.. so many things went wrong (flash wouldn't work 1/2 the time, off camera flash blew over and broke my umbrella, 0 shade outside their house.. typical photog drama) and they still somehow gave me money. headscratch.gif

Congrats on your first payed job and while I'm thinking along the lines that Jeremy mentioned there are enough niche markets to satisfy just about any style of portraiture photography.
If the customer liked it that is a big plus.

My main issue here is that his face is poorly lit.....

Congrats on your first payed photo gig. thumb.gif As for the image you can always do some "extra" magic doing some pp on any platform to enhance it. Congrats again. clap.gifclapclap.gif

Thank you all for the great comments! I agree that the face needs much better lighting :-)

    Getting paid is always fun.
Hopefully they did not all look like this one.
I imagine this is cool as a dark moody black and white with attitude, unless they all look like this then you have some work to do :).

i'm no pro, but I am not a fan of most of the shots in the posted gallery.

But then again, as long as client is happy...

As to the shots in the gallery, the client chose the spot. I personally think they are to busy and the trees are very annoying, but the location was not my choice.

But what exactly don't you like about the shots Foques?

To each his own. Despite its technical flaws I thinks it's a cool shot. Kinda reminds me of a WWll Soviet propaganda poster: "onward to Berlin, comrades!" drums.gif
