Direct migrate images from Gallery2 to SM

I've looked at all the hacks for migrating a Gallery 2 site to SM, but they all require a download to my local machine. is there no known way to do it server-to-server? I could use proxy FTP if SM supported FTP.

Pointers/suggestions gratefully received.
