LCD protectors suck

Well, maybe only the aftermarket brand I, in my naivete, used when I first got my 5d2. After over a year, I decided to peel it off and replace it, and there's now an awesomely epic gunk of glue residue left on my lcd. I took some off with my fingernail, as best I could, then tried a little bit of alcohol, then a little bit of peanut butter oil (I was reading some on Fred Miranda) but to no avail. I managed to clear up a little bit in the middle, but still.
Has anyone encountered this same problem? I read it's $180 to get Canon to replace the LCD, and I'll probably cough it up soon :-/
PS. Don't let this be you! Stay away from sticky LCD protectors.

they leave no residue behind.......do you have any eclipse (the liquid for cleaning the filter over your sensor)???
that might take it right off...use very sparingly .............or try Residule Oil Remover (ROR) ...kinda pricy but replacing an
LCD is more pricy......check you local photo stores for it............
FYI - the plastic that has accumulated all the sticky stuff on your camera is NOT the same as the LCD. The clear plastic window covering the LCD on the 5D Mark II is cheap to replace (~$30).
Here's a blog I found detailing the replacement: http://blog.johnwurth.com/?p=16
I'll second the recommendation for GOO GONE - has worked for me in the past with all sorts of stuff.
