School Photoshoot

Some shots from photoshoots I'm doing for my school's media department. We just got all new equipment so we need to update all our photos. Color correction is not done on these yet.

Looking for lots of C&C!

New gear photoshoot:

Lit by the two 650w fresnels in the shoot, plus a tota on each side and a pro light next to the camera. Going to redo this I think, move around the items a bit more, I hate the big blank spot on that light case, and you can see the powercord for the lights.

Edit Bays:


Lit by one omni to the right off the camera, with a blue gel and some toughspun. Two practical light underneath with purple gel as well. It's a little too pink right now.

This was an older version of the same thing with a professor, but we probably aren't going to use this, too dark and I just don't like it.



Sony 350's:


Just natural lighting on these.


Mac Lab:

Wayyy too pink here, lit by an omni on the wall in the background, gelled blue, and an omni closer to the talent, gelled purple.

Lots more coming! I still have to shoot the new audio booths, radio and TV stations, and a few other things.

I like the candid shots regardless of color...very cool behind the scenes stuff

Wait till you see the control room for the TV station, we're insanely cutting edge now, a lot of stuff we're actually still waiting on because Sony's making it to order for us, like our switchers.

We jsut got new Arri lighting kits today too so I'll be setting up another gear shoot sometime this week.

Some shots from a class, we're shooting a corporate video for a food service company.


Beauty Shots of food, this turned out absolutely gorgeous, it's lit by two 650w Tungsten fresnels shooting through a flag and a Rifa to balance the shadows.

Tell me this is University and not High School?

Haha yea, it's Taylor University in Indiana. The media comm department hired on a husband and wife team...five years ago now I beleive and they've turned this whole program around, it's insane. We raised around a million dollars for the department and it's gone into the brand new imacs, all new cameras, lighting, jib, monitors, basically everything plus a brand new TV station that we broadcast in full HD from.

Sat in on a multi-camera live lab today to try and get some action photos. The studio's just too dark for my 40D though so I'll have to stage some instead sometime this weekend I think.

The studio cams are actually the same 350's we use for film-making just on Vinten Pedestals and using Marshall monitors, no working tally lights yet though
