Apparently Smugmug domains by Go Daddy sold my domain that I had for 6 years 16 days after it expired without even giving me a phone call. Very disappointed to say the least...

Ack! We don't have any control over that :( Did you contact Godaddy? They are super responsive. I'm so sorry this happened, did you not get your reminder emails to renew, and such, from Godaddy?

I did but they were sent to my old college email :/

I sent a nice email to the lady in Australia who now has my domain. Hopefully she will be responsive.

To avoid future problems like this you might want to set your account at the domain registrar to automatically renew. You would need to keep a current credit card on file with the registrar for that to work though, don't know how you feel about that.
