I think that is Comet Hartley 2, as seen last night. Work for DSS 63? (Sorry about the watermark.)

Of course it works, in fact anything works for an open study. Nice image, my only problem is I wish there was something in the water or in the foreground that would capture my interest, something somewhat interesting to look at, even in the horizon, like taller mountains. I do see some boats in the water but they are so tiny and dark that they don't add anything to the picture. It is a very nice image of a starry night, however missing an element that is needed to take the image to another level. That dark area in the lower right corner is not exactly helping either. If you have more from this shoot, I'd be interested to see.

Allen, you are absolutely right. I actually shot this as a series and created a time lapse of the scene. It is really cool with the milky way dancing across the sky, and reflecting on the water. But I had hoped to run into the comet, and I only saw this in a couple of the scenes, and then really tiny at that. As a single image, it is indeed missing a bit.

I see you posted this in the gallery. You have to Caption it with your Dgrin User name and a title, too. Or risk being DQ'd

Thanks Don. You were too fast. I was in the process of doing so. I posted ne version of the image, and was meaning to post a larger one than I usually do. But when I clicked it in the gallery, it still seemed small. I marked it to be deleted, and saved a larger jpeg. Uploaded it, and I now I think I understand that the resolution is limited at the level of the gallery settings. It still shows up only in XL size. But that one is now titled. It occurs to me that this photo really is an "Open Study." We've had a stormy couple of weeks and the surf and high tide breached (i.e., opened) an inland pond that hasn't been open in quite a while.

Your shot of Storm's Beach is amazing. I Love the color contrast between the blues, browns, and greens. The motion is also very attractive. Nice.
