Can anyone confirm that changeSettings works?

Hi guys,
So my changeSettings issue http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=18174 is the last remaining major obstacle holding back the development of a tool that I'm working on.
Relatively soon I'm going to concentraing on trying to fix the problem, if I can't get anywhere with the API, I'm going to have to use URL comms to get the functionality, which I obviously don't want to do.
Please can anyone confirm that they have the changeSettings method working successfully, so that I can be sure that it's my mistake (the most likely situation!). In that case I'll spend more time trying to fix my API calls. (Which will involve hacking my XML-RPC library, which is why I'm kind of hesitant...)
Ideally, some working XML would help no end as well...
