I recently saw a print of horses running in sepia dust. I liked it & wondered how it/if would translate well to desert racing.

Usually I toss the "dusties". I going to Baja in a week so I might be looking for these as opportunities.

Very interesting concept, Rags, I like the look. But that large blown-out section on the left distracts me (as does the large dust-spot below the rider's elbow...) I think with a little more detail on the left side, it would balance the photo better - and you could even crop out some of that side, leaving room for him to "ride into" on the the right.

Doesn't work for me. I think if the rider were a bigger part of the frame and the dust were more behind the rider, it would be better. The OE parts of the image are also distracting.

Ian, I have done shots with dust behind the subject and you see that much of the time

But you don't see dust in front much (intentionally.. :D)

The dust appears to be blown out when converting to sepia, but in color it seems to isolate subject
