I'm looking for new ext Drive

My 1tb Lacie is almost full. I'm looking at either a 4tb OWC elite al pro Qx2 or another Lacie (4TB big quadra), bad reviews though. Is the tray system the way to go, or should I go with separate drives. two 2tb drives. I use a Mac with Aperture 3 and I run the photos out of the external.
