Haven't had much time to get out shooting lately but managed to sneak an hour last week when the fairground came to town.

As always c&c is greatly appreciated.

I like #1, but my favorite is #4. I really like that one. Cool shots of the fair. I think this subject just screams the need for color, so I do like the color shots better than b&w in this case.

Love #2. It could be the cover for a retrospective Bruce Springsteen album. So retro looking.

I like #4 best also - the colors are great, as is the spin - almost makes me dizzy! I wonder what #2 would look like in color. Nice shots.

    Thanks for the feedback Sherry.
I shot a lot in just b&w as I was trying to concentrate on the lines & movement without the distraction of the colour.

Unfortunately #2 was one of a sequence I shot in b&w so there is no colour version to go back to.

Why would you ever want to shoot in B&W in camera?

If you are shooting in raw then that ain't true. Especially if you are using LR or ACR(PSCS)!

    Color should still be there!

B&W jpeg from the camera is just silly, IMHO.

Having shot RAW last time the fair was in town and had trouble getting a b&w conversion I was happy with, this time I opted to shoot some in b&w jpg so I didn't have the conversion issue and knew that what I was seeing in camera is what I would end up with.

Given that for the most part I wanted to concentrate on the lines & movement, for which the colour can (in my opinion) be a distraction, shooting b&w jpg was a reasonable decision.

I'm throwing in a vote for #4 in B&W. What I like about it is the motion-blur of the people in the foreground. For some reason it (motion-blur of the people) works better for me in B&W. And... I think the motion of the people is an important aspect of the image as it establishes a counterpoint to the motion of the ride.
