Does anyone know what theme is shown in the photo at the top of the smugmug.com homepage? Right beside where it says "Your photos look better here". Is it custom? Thanks

It should be soon though right? I mean new customers go to the "new" homepage, see the gorgeous theme, sign up and expect it to be avaliable no?

On my watch any tease becomes a frustration in under a week. mwink.gif

I completely agree. I don't think that Smugmug should be featuring it on their homepage when it isn't even available yet. Quite the bait and switch, if you ask me. It's one of the main reasons I haven't switched from Zenfolio yet.

Well...any news? I really think it should be taken off of the smugmug.com site until its available. VERY misleading.

We're still going full steam ahead and as soon as anything is released, you can be assured that we'll post about it through the usual channels.

I'm sure you can imagine how many times that line has been delivered to me over the past 26 months. What I'm getting at is that we have to be past that somehow. I feel we should be at explanations, apologies, refunds, incentives, those sort of things. I'm not saying that heads should roll or anything like that, but somebody ought to be embarrassed and somebody ought to take some heat for this.

26 months. And that's counting only from when you strarted advertising the non-existing theme on smugmug.com.

According to post #1 in the following thread there is suppose to be a migration window of 6 to 12 months.
    http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=198816
    #5 below the second picture.

Is it safe to assume that we will not see the new theme in effect for at least 6 to 12 months after a "migration window" is announced?

    Thanks in advance,
    --Shawn
I think what that means is that once the new feature becomes available, there will a time period that you have to adapt your customizations to the new design. So, my interpretation of what he said is that the migration window would start immediately when the new feature was available and you could switch your account to the new design when you were ready to.

I thought the same at first John, but then read number 6 which said they would "flip the switch" and make it the default, which implies it won't be the default until migration is finished.
Migration itself means "moving to the new design" and adapting your customizations to work with the new design. I can't contemplate any meaningful migration that you could do to your account BEFORE there was a new design to migrate to.

I also expect new account signups and probably existing accounts with no customizations to get the new design the first day it is launched. The rest of us will have to prepare our customizations for the new design and migrate to it when we think we're ready.

The way I understand it, there would be two "big switches to throw". The first would be when the new design is first made available and all new accounts and probably existing accounts with no customizations (like all Basic accounts and any Power or Pro Accounts that don't have custom JS or CSS or custom themes) would be "switched" to the new design. The second switch would be at the end of the migration period when all accounts are forced to go to the new design (I'm just guessing that Smugmug doesn't want to support the older design forever so they eventually want everyone to get over to it, but sometimes these things have a life of their own and the "force" date keeps getting pushed out - look at how long Microsoft kept Windows XP alive - way longer than originally announced). In between those two switches, you can prepare your own account and switch it to the new design when you are ready. None of this has been formally "announced" so this is just my interpretation of everything I've read about this upgrade combined with some logic for how these types of things usually work.

It should all be low stress for current account holders. Day #1 is when the new capabilities are available and you can then take your time to make any required changes in your customizations to look good with the new design and switch your own account over when ready.
